Resume Checklist
Before you send your resume off to the printer or the hiring manager, put it through
this checklist:
1. The career objective is in line with the position that the employer posted.
2. The body of the resume supports my career objective.
3. The resume clearly answers the most important questions the employer
will ask.
4. The most important elements of my work experience appear on the top half
of the first page.
5. My resume and especially my accomplishments begin with action verbs and
are quantified when appropriate.
6. The resume uses present tense when talking about my current job and past
tense when referring to past jobs.
7. It is easy to read, to the point, with lots of white space.
8. Someone else has proofread the resume for grammar and typos.
9. The resume invites further interest.
10. It projects an image I feel good about.
11. It uses key words appropriate for the industry or the potential employer.
12. It uses bold type, indentation, underlining, and bullets.
