Step Up to the Plate – Your Interview

It’s the bottom of the ninth, and there are two outs. As you step up to the plate, you recgnize it’s do or die. This is your moment. All eyes are on you…..

Okay, maybe interviewing for a new position isn’t do or die, but what if we prepared that way….
Us sales folks often times get don’t prepare for an interview the same way we would for that million dollar sale…why?

In speaking with sales people across the country, I have found a common theme before they go into an interview, I know I’m good and any company would be lucky to get me on their team…actaully they are self-important and feel like they can shoot from the hip about their skills… However, when I spoke with those same folks after the interview they often don’t get the job…

Going into an interview is your chance to step up to the plate and swing for a home run or said another way it’s your chance to shine…

We need to take the same approach in our prep an interview like a big sales presentation. Who are we selling to, what’s important to them, why are they looking and also the Freature, Function, Benefit stuff.

Selling our self is harder for most of us than selling a product or service. Break down what you bring to a company and present yourself like it’s the bottom of the ninth…

Good luck, Coach T
